Lou Reed's NY Shuffle

Lou Reed's NY Shuffle

One of the many things I enjoyed discovering from reading the "King of New York" was that Lou and Hal Willner co-hosted a show called "Lou Reed's NY Shuffle." It's a shame that the BBC only has one of the 13 episodes online. Luckily, someone recreated the series with a 15-hour long Spotify playlist, and I've been enjoying that. I'm probably missing some of their banter though. 😔

A few of the other things I ended up looking up while reading the book included Lou's Summer 1996 tour diary in The New Yorker, the silly Honda ad he did, some of his photography work, and I revisited the Cowboy Junkies' cover of "Sweet Jane." I definitely could have done without seeing Lou's robotic "No Money Down" video though! The book was a delight to read and provided valuable insights into a complicated, influential, and still very relevant artist.
