How to Fix Garmin IQ Sync Issues on iOS

I have a Garmin Edge 1030 Plus, which I use for cycling. After watching a video from Shane Miller, I discovered that I can use a ConnectIQ app called EDGE MapFields to add significantly more data fields to the ClimbPro screen on my Garmin. This is quite handy because I also learned from another video of Shane's that I can get wind and weather data on my Garmin using the Windfield app. Combining these apps provides a much more useful ClimbPro page with a wealth of data in one place. I am now able to view my power, cadence, heart rate, speed, and weather data on the ClimbPro page.

While setting this up, I encountered several issues. The ConnectIQ app on my iOS device wouldn't allow me to update a few third-party apps I had installed, showing them as listed in my "Download Queue" no matter how many times I successfully synced.

I eventually worked around the stuck ConnectIQ apps by unpairing my Edge device from both the Garmin app on iOS and my Bluetooth settings, then repairing the Edge device via the Garmin app. After completing the pairing process, I force quit the ConnectIQ iOS app and was finally able to successfully sync and update the queued third party apps using the Connect app.

Before this, I had tried syncing on macOS using the Garmin Express app, even unpairing my Edge device, removing device data from the Express "RegisteredDevices" folder, emptying the trash with the Edge device connected to my Mac, and then repairing, but that didn’t work. It appears that the issue is specific to the phone and needs to be addressed there.

Garmin software has significant room for improvement. Throughout this process I encountered 500 errors on their website, sync issues in the Express macOS software that they are aware of but haven’t fixed, and various other sync issues on their devices. After chatting with support, they advised me to ignore many of these issues.

Anyway, I’ve got it working again. Time to get out and ride.

Below are screenshots of the other errors I encountered. Despite this, Garmin System Status indicates everything is functioning normally. This poor quality makes it challenging to recommend Garmin bike computers.

Was told to just "ignore" this because they know about it the file doesn't exist anywhere.
