cua is the Docker Container for Computer-Use AI Agents.
cua is an open-source framework built to:
- Launch and manage macOS and Linux VMs using Apple Silicon’s Virtualization Framework.
- Enable AI agents (like those from OpenAI, Anthropic, or UI-TARS) to interact with the OS UI, click buttons, type text, take screenshots, and run commands.
- Run near-native speed VMs using tools like lume and lumier.
Tape Delay and Looper
The machine contains three heads: one for erasing, one for recording, and one for playing back. Because each head can be switched off or on, we have the option of sound-on-sound looping, and delay. A feedback path sets the amount of repetitions, and voltage controlled motor speed allows for external control of the motor via keyboards and other synthesizers.

All the tools are slowly converging feature-wise with the aim of autonomous development.
That seems like an accurate snapshot of where today’s AI coding tools stand. If engineering teams aren’t embracing these tools to meaningfully boost development speed and effortlessly manage small changes, it points to serious cultural challenges—and imho could ultimately undermine a company’s competitiveness.
